Kimble is employed as the versatile “general factotum” at a luxurious Beverly Hills hotel situated on Sunset Blvd. An undercover officer named Fred Bragin checks in to keep an eye on Eddie Slade, a well-known mob bookie. When Slade temporarily departs to handle some business, his girlfriend, Penelope, remains at the hotel, prompting Bragin to shift his attention to her. Seeking to fit in with the affluent hotel guests, Penelope seeks Kimble's assistance. He agrees to mentor her in the art of socializing, enhancing her etiquette, and expanding her vocabulary.
