Following their escape from the Diamonds, Steven and Lars meet a group of "off-colors," a collection of Gems deemed "defective" who have been forced to live in secrecy away from Gem society. When security robots threaten them, Lars steps up to protect the off-colors but sustains serious injuries in the confrontation.
