During their honeymoon in the northern California mountains, Michael makes two attempts on Sydney's life but fails each time. Meanwhile, Matt is determined to stop him. Michael faces the opportunity to shove Sydney off a cliff but ultimately hesitates. Sydney confidently declares that Michael will eventually love her. Consumed by guilt, Matt confesses to Jane about tampering with Michael's blood alcohol levels following the accident. Jane seizes a signed confession from Matt to blackmail both Michael and Sydney into maintaining their marriage. Jo struggles with haunting memories of Reed and grows upset upon discovering Jake plans to start a charter service using Reed's boat, the Pretty Lady. He encourages her to confront her guilt, leading her to visit Reed's grave to seek forgiveness. Meanwhile, Amanda reacts angrily after witnessing Jake comfort Jo. Alison decides that she and Billy will refrain from intimacy until after their wedding.
