Matt tragically dies in a car crash on his way to dinner at Kyle's club. Following his death, his mother hands Amanda a diary filled with his insights about friends and neighbors. Jane is amused to discover that Michael once worked as a stripper in college, but their recent engagement faces turmoil when she confesses to sleeping with an old friend, Alex Bastian, just before their wedding. Amanda uncovers in the diary that Kyle has a brother named Ryan and they had a falling out after Kyle accused Ryan of flirting with Taylor. She persuades Kyle to mend their relationship. Meanwhile, Amanda discreetly removes a compromising page from the diary. Beck returns the ransom money to Peter, and Amanda reveals that the diary disclosed Peter's unlicensed heart surgery on Beck. Believing the missing page pertains to Amanda's feelings for him, Peter searches her apartment. Mistaking him for an intruder, Amanda shoots him. Meanwhile, Lexi decides to explore a career in advertising, and a heartbroken Megan turns
