When one member of the Aquadolls, the Darling Mermaid Darlings' fierce competitors, is found dead, the past resurfaces in unexpected ways. To uncover the truth behind the murder, the Darling Mermaid Darlings are pulled out of retirement, with Ned stepping in as their manager and Olive taking on the role of stylist. Chuck, however, is unable to join them. As Olive grows closer to Sid, a male synchronized swimmer, they bond over their shared experiences with gender discrimination—her journey at Vassar on a jockey scholarship and his struggles in the sport. But could Sid's envy of the stars have driven him to murder?
