Episode Overview

Louis journeys to India to observe Westerners in pursuit of enlightenment. In Goa, he encounters Deepak, a 57-year-old American astrologer dedicated to meditation. Louis then meets Mike, a devotee of Swami Ganapathi Sachchidananda, and Amma, who asserts her spiritual gifts through hugging. He decides to join Amma on a pilgrimage alongside 400 believers for a three-month trek across India. While he also meets Swami Ganapathi Sachchidananda, Louis remains skeptical, feeling that the Swami's methods resemble those of magician David Copperfield, whose Las Vegas performance he once enjoyed.
