After a commanding victory by No. 2 seed Barb Honchak, who sent No. 15 seed Gillian Robertson packing, just two fights remain in the opening round of the tournament to crown the UFC’s first women’s flyweight champion. This week, Team Alvarez is pitting Hungarian striker Melinda Fabian, the No. 7 seed, against Team Gaethje’s Rachael Ostovich-Berdon, who enters as the No. 10 seed. Fabian has largely stayed out of the spotlight this season but recently drew attention for a hamstring injury that almost sidelined her from the competition.
