Overview
Set against the backdrop of the 1980s Cold War, The Americans follows Elizabeth and Philip Jennings, KGB operatives living undercover as a typical American couple in suburban Washington, D.C. Their seemingly ordinary lives become increasingly complicated by their covert missions and the constant threat of exposure. Complicating matters further is their neighbor, Stan Beeman, an FBI counterintelligence agent whose pursuit of Soviet spies brings him perilously close to uncovering their true identities.
