Doreen, a "little person" employed at the store, looks up to Mimi and begins to mimic her style and mannerisms. Initially unsettled, Mimi soon embraces the idea and enlists Doreen to assist in pulling pranks on Drew. Meanwhile, Sharon observes how effortlessly Kate can manipulate Drew into doing her bidding. As the store’s computers fail a Y2K compliance test, Drew’s diary entries unexpectedly pop up on the screens, causing him distress. He turns to Hal, the store's tech expert, who stirs panic about a catastrophic New Year's Eve. The group asks Sharon to construct a bomb shelter, while Lewis carries his savings of $37,000 in a garbage bag. Mimi and Doreen decide to capitalize on the situation by selling copies of Drew’s diary at the Warsaw. Sharon later finds an awkward slip where Drew mistakenly wrote Kate's name instead of hers during a recount of their first intimate encounter.
