Monroe is having a hard time coming to terms with Anna's departure, burying himself in work to avoid facing the reality of his crumbling life. He grapples with the difficult decision of whether to reveal the truth about the marriage's collapse to his son. Meanwhile, at the hospital, Monroe and cardiac surgeon Jenny Bremner find themselves in the midst of a crisis when they treat a double shooting involving a 14-year-old boy who accidentally shot his 12-year-old brother before trying to take his own life.
