Seeking to move on from Caroline, Dwight joins the navy, while Demelza decides to visit Verity for a change of scenery away from Ross. As Ross contemplates the idea of re-enlisting in his regiment, Elizabeth and George adapt to their new life as a married couple. However, George's ambitions stir unrest among the townsfolk, leading to a riot in response to his actions.
