Episode Overview

Upon arriving at Camp Bastion, Ross receives a medical briefing before being dispatched on an offensive operation in the 'green zone', a narrow stretch of farmland along the Helmand River. This initial outing exposes Ross to the perilous realities that British soldiers face. Just hours after leaving the base, the convoy right behind him triggers an explosive device, resulting in the tragic death of Corporal Darren Bonner. As B Company continues their mission, they find themselves under heavy fire from Taliban positions. Ross and his unit are left vulnerable in open terrain for several tense minutes until the Army can successfully extract them.
