Back in London, he is determined to track down the murderer, but Barbara has dismissed him from his position, and no one takes his accounts of the Budapest incident seriously. When he insists on continuing the investigation, the police take him into custody. Ultimately, he uncovers a crucial piece of evidence that reveals the killer's identity and motive, but it also puts him in grave danger.
