The Lone Ranger and Sheriff John Trent come across a stagecoach with a deceased driver and the gold cargo gone. Tracking the outlaws, they manage to confront and shoot Hook Mason. However, the town's newspaper launches a campaign against the sheriff, claiming he wrongfully shot an innocent person.
