Title: The Rivals Plot: Lydia Linley, a spirited young heiress, dreams of a partner reminiscent of Sydney Carton from A Tale of Two Cities—a man filled with warmth, creativity, bravery, and a thirst for adventure. Jack Vandergelt III (Roger Moore) is infatuated with Lydia but believes she will reject him due to his wealth. To win her affection, he enlists Bret Maverick to impersonate him, hoping Lydia will embrace the real him once she falls in love.
