The community around Fort Marshall is coming to terms with a "new normal" as many soldiers are away on deployment. When Roxy witnesses a female soldier being handcuffed and separated from her daughter, she turns to Claudia Joy, the head of the FRG, for help. Claudia Joy discovers that the soldier went AWOL and failed to report for deployment, but attorney Grant Chandler (guest star Harry Hamlin) is stepping in to challenge the Army in court. Meanwhile, in Afghanistan, Jeremy finds himself infatuated with a nurse after they connect during a group therapy session.
