Episode Overview

Howard informs the church committee about the urgent need for funds, pinpointing the annual charity play as the issue. He believes that producer Clara has fallen behind the times, leading to her discontent when she learns she'll be replaced. Millie, with some theater experience, is offered the chance to direct "Sleeping Beauty." Just then, her old friend Nick arrives, tempting her with a lucrative dance job in Raleigh. However, Millie chooses to remain in Mayberry and declines. Clara mentions Millie's past as a chorus girl to the committee, prompting the Reverend to suggest finding a new director. Fortunately, Sam defends Millie. On the night of the performance, everything seems to be going well. The show concludes with Mike singing "A Pretty Girl Is Like a Melody," followed by a lively chorus line dance that delights the audience.
