Wayne Russell, Kitty's estranged father, comes to Dodge to reconnect with his daughter after having left her and her mother when she was just a baby. He believes that the saloon lifestyle is unsuitable for a respectable young woman and proposes to bring her back to New Orleans. There, he plans to spoil her and use her savings to support his freight business.
