Episode Overview

Ollie Ridgers, a free-spirited individual who thrives on the open prairie, despises the confines of towns. However, his friend Jim Branch persuades him to visit Dodge for a night out at Miss Kitty's saloon. While there, tragedy strikes when two men slaughter Ollie's hogs and mule. In a fit of rage, Ollie pursues them and ends up killing one of the assailants. As a result, Matt is compelled to arrest his longtime friend, Ollie, for murder. After a guilty verdict leads to a lengthy prison sentence, Jim tragically takes Ollie's life, hoping to spare him the agony of imprisonment.
