As Festus returns to Dodge from a trapping trip, he encounters his girlfriend, April, and they get into a heated disagreement about a present she received. Upset, she runs away and finds a hiding spot where she can observe a murder taking place. Although she witnesses the crime unfold, no one believes her account—except for the murderers themselves.
