Episode Overview
On January 16, 1935, in Oklawaha, Florida, Eliot Ness and his team, Bill Youngfellow and Martin Flaherty, are closing in on Ma Barker, who is barricaded in a house with her sons, Lloyd and Fred. They’re wanted for numerous crimes, including bank robbery and murder. Ness calls for backup from local law enforcement and shouts for the Barkers to come out with their hands raised. Inside, Ma Barker finds a stockpile of weapons and fires at Ness, who narrowly escapes behind a large flower pot. She tosses a grenade that nearly hits Youngfellow. Flashbacks reveal her transformation from a churchgoer to a notorious criminal as she and her sons commit a series of increasingly violent crimes across multiple states. After a failed attempt to capture the gang in Minnesota, they kidnap a millionaire’s son for ransom. Arthur "Doc" Barker, wanting out, reveals their location after mistakenly sending a postcard.
