On a Saturday in New York City, September 23, 1933, crime boss Milo Sullivan leads a meeting of six powerful figures from the underworld. Among them are Augie Epstein, who controls gambling in Miami; Harold Bishman, a political heavyweight from Louisiana; Ralph Lucci of Detroit’s Purple Gang, known for his rum-running operations; Dino Monteiro, an expert in slot machines from Kansas City; and Arte Martin, who oversees numbers and prostitution in Seattle. With the lucrative era of Prohibition coming to a close, they plan to invest their substantial profits into establishing the Underworld Bank.
