S01E28 The Frank Nitti Story
Episode Overview
In 1934, with Prohibition now a thing of the past, the crime syndicate sought new ways to profit. Frank Nitti began to extend his influence, targeting small theaters through an extortion scheme. One night, after theater owner Harold Coldman refused to comply, Nitti’s enforcer, Louie Campagna, viciously disfigured him by splashing acid on his face, leaving him blind. Eliot Ness and his team are determined to put a stop to these escalating acts of violence, which have already included muggings, beatings, and even the destruction of a theater by fire. Ness understands that allowing Nitti to prey on independent theater owners will eventually lead to attacks on larger chains.
