Episode Overview
On the night of December 12, 1929, gangster Arnie Kurtz sits in a car, observing a hit he orchestrated. A speeding vehicle, accompanied by loud music, suddenly opens fire on a pedestrian. Unexpectedly, the victim returns fire, hitting the windshield. The car veers off and crashes, leaving the driver dead while the hitman manages to flee. Meanwhile, Arnie works on crafting his alibi. At 10:35, his wife Stella visits her brother Benno Fisk, who runs a pawn shop. She enlists him to deliver a payment of 100,000 dollars to a gangster in Washington, DC, for Arnie. As Benno will be away for several days, Stella takes his two pet birds and heads back to the luxurious Lakeview Hotel where she and Arnie reside.
