S02E05 Ketamine
Episode Overview
Ketamine, known scientifically as ketamine hydrochloride, was initially created in the 1960s to sedate both animals and humans for surgical procedures, although it was later overshadowed by faster-acting and safer alternatives. In the 1990s, police were baffled as burglars began targeting veterinary clinics to steal ketamine. It soon became clear that recreational users had unearthed its potential as a hallucinogenic party drug. In its powdered form, ketamine resembled cocaine and could be snorted like it. Additionally, it was easily adaptable for injection, smoking, or even mixing into beverages.
