Episode Overview

Patricia Hart was raised in the mining village of Moorends, South Yorkshire, where her father worked in the pits. After being discharged from the Women’s Royal Army Corps, she found out she was pregnant and, lacking support from her boyfriend, chose to place her baby for adoption. Following a series of health issues, she now worries that time is slipping away to reunite with her daughter. Meanwhile, John Farrell, an army reservist from Bootle, Merseyside, discovered as a teenager that the man he believed was his father was not biologically related to him. Initially filled with anger, his curiosity about his birth father has intensified now that he himself is a parent.
