Breakfast is filled with tension as Howard grapples with his unexpected night with Angela, Mel's mother. However, there’s a glimmer of hope for him when his long-awaited ring arrives. Just as things seem to be looking up, Howard receives a shocking call from Cassie, an old flame, who declares her lingering feelings for him—right in front of Mel and her family. The day takes a turn when Howard and Mel visit his father, Ron, only to be met with frantic cries for help. After bursting into Ron’s house, Howard is awkwardly introduced to his father's new girlfriend. Back at Mel's, Howard stumbles upon a chewed-up ring box, courtesy of the family dog, Binky. As Howard tries to navigate this mess, a conversation with Mel’s dad, Dick, about a wall construction project leads to an unfortunate incident involving a cement mixer and Binky.
