On February 25, 2009, Turkish Airlines Flight 1951 was approaching Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, just under a mile from the runway, when it tragically crashed. The plane shattered into three sections upon hitting the ground, resulting in the deaths of nine passengers and crew members, including all three pilots.
