Wagon Train (1957)
S05E11 The Traitor
Episode Overview
Flint McCullough finds himself caught up in a horse theft scheme, leading Chris Hale to reluctantly impose a harsh punishment of 20 lashes and banishment from the wagon train. Bill Hawks refuses to carry out the flogging, so Sgt. Oakes from Fort Henderson steps in. As Hawks discovers, Flint’s strange actions are part of a larger mission to infiltrate the notorious outlaw Angel de Muerte’s gang. Flint heads to the ranch of Sam Upton and his sister Madge, who are believed to be connected to Muerte. After seeing the fresh marks on Flint's back, Sam agrees to take him to meet Muerte, but Flint soon realizes that the bearded man is actually Sam himself. While escorting Upton to Major Hansen at Fort Henderson, the outlaw dies during an escape attempt. Flint decides to share the $10,000 reward with Madge, who had no idea about her brother’s secret life.
