Bat wins a mining claim through a lottery, but his excitement quickly turns to fear when a massive bearded man confronts him while he's searching for it. The man hurls Bat into the Trinity River, where he’s swept downstream. As he floats along, he discovers his friend Bob Bradbury lifeless on the opposite bank.
