Jess finally realizes her romantic feelings for Nick but has a hard time expressing them—until the pain medication she's on gives her the courage to open up. After confessing, she discovers that he might have been hiding something from her. Meanwhile, Schmidt fixates on getting a fish, which Winston interprets as a sign of Schmidt's lingering emotions for Cece. At the same time, Nick is brainstorming a bar promotion to win over the bar owner, played by guest star Odette Annable.
