Episode Overview
The custody trial for Jo's baby kicks off, with the Carters' lawyer casting doubt on Jo's friends and neighbors. However, Jo impressively holds her own while testifying. Meanwhile, Kimberly discovers that her injuries from the car accident have left her unable to have children. At a client party, Alison gets intoxicated and ends up leaving with a rugged music scout named Zack Phillips. During the festivities, Bruce suffers a heart attack, prompting Peter to suggest that Amanda take advantage of the situation to gain control of the agency. Unfortunately, Alison is too out of it to support Jo in court, leading the judge to grant custody to the Carters. As Matt grapples with his relationship with Jeffrey in light of the illness, they ultimately choose to commit to each other.
