In the premiere episode of the series, host James Crawford delves into the ways we've overcome the difficulties posed by our rugged landscape to link communities and regions throughout history. He takes to the skies in a seaplane, touching down at Loch Ness to unveil its geological mysteries, uncovers remnants of Viking heritage, and investigates the perilous Pentland Firth crossing. He also soars over the breathtaking West Highland line. To wrap up his journey, he visits Highland crofters, venturing to Scotland's first spaceport, exploring areas previously uncharted by crofters.
