In the gloomy countryside of Hampshire, Becky takes on the role of governess for the overlooked daughters of Sir Pitt Crawley. Meanwhile, Sir Pitt's charming youngest son, Rawdon, attempts to capture Becky's attention with his flirtations. However, Becky's true ambition lies in winning favor with Sir Pitt, and her efforts soon pay off when she is elevated to the role of his essential secretary.
