Episode Overview

Following the closure of the mill, Charles finds himself unable to settle his debts at the local mercantile. Mr. Hanson has no choice but to shut down operations after a significant client goes bankrupt, leaving him with a shipment of lumber already dispatched. Anticipating two months' wages, Charles is left in a tough spot and must juggle multiple jobs to support his family. Meanwhile, Mary takes on work to contribute, and Laura manages household chores. Once the bills are settled, Nels tells Charles he believes he is the richest man in Walnut Grove, thanks to his loving family.
