Baseball season has arrived! Following a dismal performance last year, Walnut Grove is ready for victory with their ace pitcher, Mr. Mumford. The townsfolk are so sure of their success that they begin wagering on the outcome. However, Mr. Mumford's wife disapproves of his participation due to the betting. Caroline steps in and persuades her to allow Mr. Mumford to play, agreeing that any profits from the game will be donated to the church.
