Episode Overview
In the basement of the School For the Blind, Albert tries smoking but when he’s caught, he hides the still-burning pipe in some clothes. This leads to a devastating fire that claims the lives of Alice Garvey and Mary's infant son. The aftermath leaves everyone reeling: Albert withdraws in guilt over his role in the tragedy, while Mary is left in shock and Jonathan Garvey drowns his sorrow in alcohol. As they each grapple with their grief, Charles helps Jonathan confront how his drinking affects his son, Andy. Mary begins to regain her composure when she hears a tune from the music box Albert gifted her. Overwhelmed by guilt, Albert runs away, prompting Charles and a sober Jonathan to desperately search for him.
