Adam and Mary return to Walnut Grove so Adam can establish his law practice. His inaugural case centers around a man accused of conning the townsfolk. Initially, Adam is convinced of the man's innocence, but he soon uncovers the reality. In a heartfelt plea to the jury, Adam argues that the man was only attempting to provide for his family during his final days, urging them to show compassion.
