Reverend Alden manages to find a new family willing to take in the children, but their intentions are far from nurturing; they expect the kids to work hard. When Cassandra and James decide to flee, their new father shows no interest in searching for them. Luckily, Charles discovers the siblings and offers them a home, promising to adopt them if they’re okay with a busier household. Overjoyed at the prospect, they eagerly agree to continue living with the Ingalls.
