Episode Overview

Laura joyfully welcomes a baby boy into the world, but tragedy strikes when the infant unexpectedly passes away. Struggling with her grief, she unjustly holds Doc Baker responsible for the loss, leading to a tarnished reputation that forces him to leave the community in search of new opportunities. However, just before his departure, Rose falls ill with smallpox, compelling Doc to remain in quarantine with the Wilders for two weeks. As he fights to save Rose's life, Laura begins to reassess her feelings towards Doc, ultimately persuading him to stay in town.
