After fleeing enslavement, Bass Reeves journeys westward in search of refuge with Native American tribes. Following the Civil War, he earns the distinction of being the first African American Deputy U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi River. In this new role, he sets out to track down one of the most notorious murderers haunting the Indian Territories.
