In the first installment of the three-part finale, the three finalists travel to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where head judge Tom Colicchio welcomes them and reveals the results of the Last Chance Kitchen cook-off, determining which eliminated chef will return to the competition. Esteemed Mexican chef Enrique Olvera presents the Quickfire Challenge, tasking the chefs with crafting a dish that features the unique Mexican ingredient xoconostle, a type of prickly pear. For the Elimination Challenge, set at the renowned Instituto Allende, the chefs must draw inspiration from a local artist's work and prepare a distinctive dish in four hours for an event, with the losing chef bidding farewell to their Top Chef dreams.
