Walking Through History (2013)
S03E04 Nazi Occupation: The Channel Islands
Episode Overview
On June 30, 1940, a German military plane landed at Guernsey airport, marking the beginning of a five-year occupation. While the Channel Islands are often associated with picturesque beaches and sunny skies, Tony decides to undertake a five-day trek to delve into the haunting history of this era, which is increasingly attracting visitors even seven decades later. Starting in Guernsey, he seeks out remnants of the German air raid on the port and the invasion itself, before moving on to Jersey, where signs of the Nazi occupation are still evident throughout the landscape.
