Episode Overview

Ritsuko reveals to Shinji the truth behind Second Impact, the nature of the Angels, and the purpose of the Evangelions in combating them. Meanwhile, Misato and Ritsuko witness a public showcase of Jet Alone, a new robot designed to fight Angels by a competing defense firm. However, the nuclear-powered machine spirals out of control, prompting Shinji to pilot EVA Unit 01. He must transport Misato onto Jet Alone so she can input the critical shutdown code before it detonates in a catastrophic nuclear explosion.
