Episode Overview

A ferrier named Luke comes to town just as Vic finds himself in desperate need of cash to assist Nancy's ailing sister. Baxter expresses interest in purchasing the pub, but Vic refuses his offer. Ultimately, Vic feels he has no choice but to sell the pub, even if it means turning down Baxter. Just as Luke is preparing to leave, his car unexpectedly explodes, leaving him seriously injured and his tools ruined. Despite this, he proposes to buy the pub from Vic, who agrees without realizing that Luke is actually working for George Baxter. As Vic's 60th birthday party approaches, he decides to leave early, assuring Geoff he'll return.
