Episode Overview
Hunter and McCall apprehend a street thug named Gavin, only to be taken aback when the District Attorney strikes a plea deal with him. Gavin claims he can connect crime lord Nate Demarest to four murders, much to Hunter's dismay, as he fears that releasing Gavin will lead to future bloodshed. Following an assassination attempt on Gavin, Hunter proposes that only he and McCall know his location. Gavin insists that their protection proves his trust; Hunter must risk his life for him. During this time, McCall recalls a past investigation into Demarest related to the murder of an undercover agent, prompting her to seek out the agent's widow. Meanwhile, Hunter interviews a former associate of Demarest, Whitey McPhee, to gather more evidence.
