On Louie's birthday, his grandmother gifts him a lovely sweater she crafted herself. Instead of taking the time to write her a thank you note, Louie chooses to hang out and have fun with his friends. Later, when he finally sits down to pen the letter, he receives the heartbreaking news that his grandmother has passed away.
