After overcoming their initial challenges, Lewis and Hathaway's collaboration is starting to stabilize. DS Maddox has integrated into the team, and her skills will face a real challenge when they delve into the shocking murder of Rose Anderson, an American classics student. Her lifeless body is discovered in the canal, marked by severe wounds to her neck and abdomen. The investigation points to Felix Garwood, an astrophysics professor who recently ended an affair with Rose. Complicating matters, Felix is married to Philippa Garwood, Rose's academic supervisor. Could the scorned wife be behind this crime?
