Motivated by his literary idols, Jean-Paul Sartre and Albert Camus, a young Les Dawson sets off from Manchester to make his mark as a serious novelist in Paris. However, reality takes an unexpected turn, leading him to a rather unconventional job as a pianist in a brothel instead of the literary success he envisioned.
