Tom feels a swell of pride as both Elizabeth and Joannie graduate in the same week—Joannie from college and Elizabeth from high school. However, Joannie grapples with uncertainty about her future. Tom receives an invitation to deliver the commencement speech at Elizabeth's graduation ceremony. Meanwhile, Abby intervenes with the principal to advocate for Elizabeth, who has been barred from the ceremony due to her involvement in a reckless senior prank. Additionally, Tommy is presented with an ideal summer job as a lifeguard, but he must agree to cut his hair to take the position.
